Fucking life vests. You can hardly go anywhere on the water these days where cops aren't constantly 'pulling you over' to do life vest checks or ticketing you because they spotted you without a vest from shore with 200x glasses. I've been ticketed for not wearing a vest on the deck of my uncle's thirty odd foot ocean RV. It's like a fucking house with a living room and a big screen. All of the sudden some cunts in orange vests armed with glocks pile on from the back, never asking permission to board, and ticket each of us $86 for sitting around a table on an upper level sun deck with no water access. They also used the vests as an excuse to bring a fucking sniffer dog on board and run him through every room. My aunt threw a shit fit when the fucker pissed on the transom. We were fucking moored too.

I've never been on a lake where you have to be wearing a PFD while the boat was anchored or trolling.

CT but it happened in NY. I think it was all a ruse to get a dog on the boat and cuz my uncle has a police record. It ain't any better in CT. Everything is regulated up the ass. I got cuffed and put in the backseat of a patrol car for talking back to cop about having the family dog on the beach. It's a private fucking beach deeded to the homeowners but there's a public road between the beach and the houses. We used to have a little bonfire, drink beers and roast crabs under the coals but now every time we do anything fucking rollers pull up and bullhorn us to the curb. I was trying to explain its private from this jetty to those rocks in spite of the gate and the signs saying 'private fucking beach'. He says no alcohol, dogs or fires and I say my dog, my beach and he arrests me. I got released a twenty minutes later because guess what, IT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY! We still can't do anything without getting hassled because it's a different fucking cop every time.

Shit I've even been stopped by the coasties while operating my uncle's 45' with half a load on, because everyone else was too fucked up. Guess what he said to me, "don't drink anymore if you plan on getting back to the marina with your freedom"

Personally I'd never do anything as stupid as operate any kind of machinery with any kind of buzz on, but to each their own. Despite my condition I can still pilot a vessel better than most people sober. I've only been logging sea hours since I was 14, legally. The first time I was on any type of vessel started around 5 or 6.

My credentials speaks for me, if I wasn't in a proper condition I would have not manned the wheel and set anchor, its not worth my masters. In addition I wasn't stopped due to unsafe operation, it was a random stop being that we were the only vessel in the area and it was quite late.
