I need a Freight Hopping thread.
I need to go from Sacramento to Salem Oregon. I've hopped freights before but never any distance, just to the next town over from where I live. My only concern is not knowing where the train is going. I've looked up the rail maps and Sacramento to Oregon seems like a pretty easy ride, but if I get on the wrong train, I could end up in like Salt Lake City or something. There has to be some sort of science to freight hopping besides just hopping you're going the right direction, can you guys help me /out/?
