I want a 2-person tent and I'm poor as fuck. Do you goys have any recommendations? I came across these that look good for the price:

I've used Coleman in the wood and coast. Those were good. I also used one Ozark in cold and very wet weather, it served its purpose after all but ended up with tiny holes, I guess the first are more resistant yet Ozark is quite cheap.

I have the sundome 3 (7'x7'). It's a quality tent but heavy as fuck for what is basically a 2 person tent. If you don't plan on backpacking get the coleman.

I got a quest brand tent at dicks for 30 bucks, it's small and light enough to strap on my pack, it held up every time I used it and every time I used it it rained. In my opinion unless you're going to be in some serious mountain wind or cold you shouldn't spend anymore assuming you have a sleeping bag .

you spend less than $200 to get a piece of gear that people with vastly greater budgets still use owing to its very light weight, and packability. It doesn't suffer as much from the condensation/claustrophobia that otherwise defines the type of shelter.

All you really need from a temporary shelter is a dry place to lay your head at night, so it wins out over single man tents - you'd end up paying several times as much for something that's heavier and doesn't significantly offer more comfort

if you're really concerned about keeping your gear dry and can't be fucked enough to buy a decent water wicking bag then you can just buy a tiny tarp for $5 and throw it over your gear at night - there's not a significant weight increase. The tarp can also double as a place to cook if you're that much of a little bitch

welcome to the dumpster fire that is /out/ motherfucker. The coleman might be your better bet- it has a back window which is key for ventilation. In those cheap tents if you really need to have ventilation otherwise you'll get soaked from condensation even if it's not raining. That said, I live in a humid as fuck area, so you may be fine where you are. Above anon suggested the REI half dome which is awesome for the price. I usually take it instead of my more expensive tents on hikes just to not give as much of a fuck about it and it's roomier so there's more room for sex.

You should probably elaborate on where and when you expect to use this tent. Wet or Dry area? Hot or Cold? Winter? Summer?

I have that 2-person Coleman Sundome and it's 4-person equivalent. It works well for car camping during the summer. In heavy rain it you'll get an occasional tiny drop seeping through the top, but if you can sling an extra tarp over the top, all the better. Other than those occasional drops, it did a pretty good job keeping everything inside dry. It has pretty decent ventilation.
