Ummmmm best chainsaw for sum big ass tree? Irma clean up.

Everyone has their prices hacked up on Craigslist now so fuck it gonna try to get one new. Just need to help get this tree off my friends house. I know some half decent tree arborist hang out here. Or at least use too.

My problem is the two trees that HAVE to be taken down are huge and probably gonna be miles of cutting just to get them into manageable sizes. I'm gonna ask him if maybe renting a woodchipper would be best to get rid of all the wood.

Stihl 660 with a few bar lengths is what I recommend if you're feeling like spending. I use a 362 on a regular basis and it works for almost everything so you might want to consider that. How big are your trees and what kind of trees are they?

If you don't know the first things about feeling feeling trees (like what chainsaws are good), you probably shouldn't DIY it.
Do you even know how to safely operate one?

Just get an axe. Cut off the limbs, see if anyone wants the trunk. If it's a decent species someone might take it for free or even pay you for it, but there will probably be a large surplus after the storm.

I was looking at getting a Husqvarna 440 I just dont know if its gonna earn me back my money. I'm a woodworker and not an arborist I use my 1400watt electric chainsaw for all my in shop needs. And been saving up for a portable bandsaw trailer mill. Dropping 500-600 dollars puts a pretty nice dent in that savings.

Thanks everyone for their advice. Expect for the obvious trolls. If you want to continue to educate me on models and what are the best bang for your buck please do so I'm open to hearing about them. My replies will be slow. Between sleeping, eating and working my phone stays at like 85% the last 2 in a half days.

Maximum wood chipper available for pleeb use will handle 14-16" diameter logs. And a 14" diameter x 24" length log weighs about 100lbs. Your going to need a lot of stupid friends and family.
Also, the other Anon was spot on. Stihl 660. And learn what is full skip chain. Or better yet, since equipment will have you 2 grand into it, and based on your questions you'll undoubtedly be hospitalized, just call the man.

Husqvarna or Stihl.

Those are your options. Sharpen chain before and after every use with a decent chain file. Don't cheap out.

If you've no experience running a chainsaw and no one to coach you, best not to start under these conditions. They aren't exactly difficult to learn, but the penalty for even small fuck ups can be pretty steep.

You're probably going to need some heavy equipment to pull it off the house if you want to avoid further damage. Once it's on the ground you can take your time and do whatever with it.
