Folks in my line of work generally live out of their cars and drive hundreds of miles to work different contracts throughout the year with different companies. The lifestyle itself attracts a lot of people who are skittish about commitment and staying in one place for too long. Basically what I'm saying that if you do end up meeting somebody, they're really hard to pin down.
She was from the southwest, I was from New England. I had to go back after our contract for a single expedition ended and she went out to California to work some outdoor ed jobs.
We both fell head over heels for one another and each of us had been through a lot of bad shit in our lives and we really connected on that.
I went back east for school and work, and felt sick to my stomach. I was still talking to her. "Don't become a stranger" she said. Eventually I got so misurable that I said fuck it, quit my job, transferred, and went out there to go see her.
I never went back. We've been together ever since.
Sometimes you have to throw everything away for the people you love, and for yourself. Get after it anons.
