I stopped going to scouts because the leader's son was a giant piece of shit that deserved the punch in the face he got from the kid that was kicked out for doing it. I left after that.

It wasn't that much fun either. The older scout stuff was way cooler. Too bad they have a monopoly on scouting now.

We should start our own scouts based on the old stuff. Call ourselves rangers or something.

The pig and the gay ate all of our food (8 cans of food between two guys) and threw in the trash the left overs, because ants got on them. We explained that that was supposed to our lunch AND dinner. Fatso is already crying about not having dinner ignoring that he ate and trashed our food. Friend gets mad and leave, I believed he went home. Few hours later he came with 2 pound of grounded meat, frozen fries and a hamburger buns. He start cooking and fag and fatso came to eat burgers. Friend told them to get the fuck off, while we ate burgers in their faces. Seeing that pig and the fag crying over food makes my dick hard to this day.

The lesson is, never allow fags and absolutely never allow fat people in outdoor activities.

I also disagree with the whole official policy of "military kids get almost all the requirements waived because they might maybe move a couple times during their youth". The troop I helped with when I was stationed at Bragg was pinning Eagle on 12 year olds. The time in rank requirements mean that there should be no possible way to earn Eagle before 15.

As an eagle scout I can confidently say that I learned 100% of my outdoors skills in the woods myself while reading survivalist books.

I learned literally nothing in boy scouts. Not a single thing.

Every meeting and camp out was a test of my patience, being surrounded by autistic, fat kids with asthma inhalers.

For 10 years I suffered this bullshit from cub to eagle because I wanted a good mark on my resume.

I haven't convinced myself it was worth it yet.

That badge is required for Eagle.

In the UK our scout troop never did anything. we just went to the hut, chatted and waited to go home.
If you wanted the badges you pretty much had to go outside of the group with some friends to get the requirements.
There was no moderation? so any fat kid could just say yes I did x and get the badge anyway.

Its supposed to be a lesson in leadership, dealing with people and community service. Its way for a scout to demonstrate that they have learned the leadership and organizational skills needed to effectively manage a project and also give back to the community. I say supposed to but sadly some people miss the point. A city near me has gamed the system so that all of their landscaping is done for free by eagle scouts as their projects. Kid signs up, then shows up at a set place and time. City gives them everything they need and then picks it up and signs them off at the end of the day. I know a few kids who fell for it. The board signed off on it but I feel like they got cheated out of the experience of leading a project. Even the classic "building a bench" would be better than the city using them as free labor.

Being out of shape doesn't kill a kid. That does not cause heat stroke. Dehydration and heat does. Blame poor planning, poor fluid drinking, improper gear, ect ect. It's not just "being fat".

I'll agree with you here on reading survivalist books. However, I'll add in a bit myself. I read the books by Daniel Carter Beard, who helped co found the boy scouts. They are FAR and above better than most of the boy scout books written now. Even his book, The American Boy's Handybook, is a wonder of writing, and he explains everything from building boats, to log cabins in his other books. Admittedly, this was from a guy lived in a time where lead was used to fix roofs and piping, and arsenic was used to stuff animals.

A big part of the reason why the boy scouts have problems with gay scouts, people going under the requirements to get their Eagle, etc., would be the LDS church being one of their biggest backers. I wound up with one as my only option for Boy Scouts. Let me tell you, when all the other kids prefer basketball to actually getting merit badges done, hate video games, and all but one of the adults thinks you should already quit trying to become an Eagle Scout already, trying to become one is hell. Especially since the later people leading the troop, didn't give a shit about actually making it work out for the kids, or wanted anything to do with it. The LDS church is trying to seperate from the Boy Scouts of America, though, so a lot of the problems should dry up then.

Even still, I stuck with it, and got all the work done for mine. And I was pretty much the only one that actually gave a damn about it, and doing a decent project.

I earned mine. I was one of those edgy lazy scouts and knew fuck all.

It came to two months till my 18th birthday then i did an interviews with the troop board, where i could barely recite the oath and law, and the district. Glad i did it though its a great accomplishment that got me through a post High School depression.

Now i try to teach everyone how to hunt, mostly with military gear because its balanced AF, or try to take care of others whether they know they need it or not with in reason.

Honestly i don't think giving this guy eagle accomplishes much.

I did obtain Eagle rank with two palms, and I worked at a few summer camps teaching the Tender foot classes. That was my favorite because I had the chance to show kids why being inside all the time sucked so much ass. Most were responsive and more than willing to perform tasks. And for the sake of the argument in this thread, least willing and least interested were the fat kids. Don't know if I had any homos. Guess because that wasn't a concern for me.

Oh, no sir. I did not go on a mission for them. Even when I was around 13 I had an innate feeling about the church's oppression. Once I left home, I found a lot of anti-Mormon literature that helped me make up my mind completely. I forced them to remove my name from the member's roster my second year of college. Yet, somehow, they found me a few years after I graduated in another city. My parents were seriously disappointed so I think they had something to do with that.

A LOT of troops have this problem where the troop leader's son basically rules the troop and is a complete asswipe. I think they take after their dads.
