Feel free to post tobaccos (no weed allowed), pipes, collections, pics of favorite combos for going /out/, pics of what you're doing with your pipe and any questions you might have.
Want to get into smoking pipes without spending too much cash?
Get a Missouri Meerschaum Legend corncob pipe and a pouch of either Prince Albert, Carter Hall or Half and Half tobacco, available at most drugstores.
What you'll need: pipe, tobacco, lighter or matches, pipe cleaners, and either a regular old nail or a pipe tool (combination tamper, scoop, and small pick).
All of these together should run you less than $20.
Having trouble keeping your pipe lit? Fill it with less tobacco and smoke it slower than you think you need to, lightly tamping as needed when the smoke starts thinning out.
If you're still having trouble, try filling your pipe this way:

Currently 32 days of no tobacco, 2 days ago I was able to downgrade from the 4mg nicotine gum to the 2mg nicotine gum.
Anyway, I tried snus some years ago, but had built up enough of a tolerance to nicotine that I literally ended up with the entire can of them in my mouth at once. >>1102521 You only put it into the freezer for 15 mins or so.

After all, it fit ok when it was in there originally. That makes me think it's just tat deposits that are keeping everything from fitting together now.

Think about it: like coffee, tobacco is full of light flavorful oils that give it its flavor. Also like coffee, those flavorful oils also go rancid very quickly. And when they do, they make your pipe smell and taste like a rotten version of what you smoked last.
If you plan on smoking the same stuff again soon, you can get away with using a dry pipe cleaner or two between bowls, but I would recommend a thorough cleaning before setting your pipe down for any length of time.

As for aromatics, try some more premium offerings. I love CAO's Moontrance (fruit and bourbon), and Bella Vanilla is supposed to be very good as well. Casey Jones Last Ride is a cherry and caramel blend that is both affordable and much better than what you can normally find at your local drugstore. Other premium aromatics are Cult's Blood Red Moon, and Mac Baren's Vanilla Cream.
For something more off the beaten path, try some Lakeland aromatics, which use floral essences for flavorings. Some famous examples are Gawith and Hoggarth's Bosun Cut Plug (chocolate and rose), and. Ennerdale Flake (fruit, vanilla, almond, and flowers), as well as Samuel Gawith's (different maker) Grousemoor blend (lemongrass). They are very fine quality and quite popular, but be warned: these blends can leave a strong ghost in a pipe and are very love-it-or-hate-it flavors. Some adore them, others think the flavors taste like soap. Be sure to try them in a cob first to see if you like them before putting it into a pipe you care about.

Hey guys this is my first post in this thread. Maybe about two months ago I saw this thread pop up and I browsed it for a few weeks and I finally decided to purchase a pipe and some tobacco (SWR in the 1.5 oz pouch). Pic related is the pipe, I painted it and gave it a neat texture by carefully using a jet lighter to almost boil the paint as it was drying.
My wife's mother got me into smoking cigars, and I've smoked cigars for a little over a year now and enjoy that immensely. I remember an ancient groundskeeper near my home as a child smoking pipes and that's always left an impression on how relaxed he seemed at work with the pipe hanging from his mouth and smoke billowing around him as he cut the lawns and trimmed the hedges. I loved that and now I also love this hobby. In fact, last night I purchased a 311 KS from Savinelli (I'll post pics when it arrives) to upgrade from this hardwood pipe.
I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me get into this hobby! But I'm worried about the health effects on my body. I'm very /fit/ and think of my body as a gift from God, but I see no harm from smoking in moderation (1 cigar a week, maybe 1 or 2 bowls a week). Can anyone verify the following link?

In order of best to worst I would rank it meerschaum-->calabash/gourd-->briar-->clay-->hardwood-->cob. >how new the pipe is If the bowl doesn't have enough cake it will absorb flavors worse.

Cobs are better than most others at not holding these flavors, but things can still taste weird for a couple of bowls.

>>1112707 >cancer That’s the risk you run, but if the studies are to be believed, that risk is minimal for most people who are occasional smokers (1-2 bowls, 1-3x per week). At that level, your risk is 5% higher than the cancer risk for a nonsmoker.
For reference, a pack a day cigarette smoker has over a 1600% greater cancer risk than a nonsmoker.

Old Number One-a bamboo stemmed Meerschaum-filled with Dunhill Elizabethan.
Just right for a leisurely smoke on a cool fall evening.
>>1113546 Those recommendations are there because they are decent, widely available and inexpensive. If something else catches your eye, by all means try it.
I didn’t really get what the fuss was about with pipes until I tried Dunhill Royal Yacht because the tin looked neat and I was pretty sure Dunhill stuff wasn’t crap. From there I discovered some great English Blends-965, Three Nuns, Dunhill Flake-and was off to the races. So trybwhat you think you might like.

Why do people like frog Morton? It's cheap crap with a terrible chemical taste to it and it smells like vinegar/ketchup. If you want (okay) cheap baccy, look at the Missouri meerschaum ones. Pic unrelated, but here's a cute dragon pipe I got last week

I dropped my clay pipe today. Cracked the stem in half and chipped the bowl. Still useable but it's annoying. I'll see if i can pick up a new one when I go back to my parent's place.

Regular (white) is a vanilla flavor, gold is honey, Red is cherry, and blue is fruit and caramel. Haven’t tried black yet, guess I need to.

It's not, as long as you're not under-aged and you can smoke in moderation>it's....IT'S EXPENSIVE!!! Who forces you to buy a pack every day, fucking peat-gavel

>>1114154 Not a smoker but saw this while scrolling. Figured I'd save the pipebros from wasting their time replying to your shitpost. Pipe tobacco comes in multitudes of quality artisanal options from all around the world, many of which use processes steeped in centuries of tradition. Cigarette tobacco is the absolute cheapest foulest trash you can smoke short of gummi bear flavored shisha. You're smoking garbage.

>>1114428 Not hard at all to do. Tobacco is the original weed. It’s naturally pest resistant, frost tolerant, low maintenance and grows well just about anywhere.
Just takes time.
Get some going now and you’ll have bunches of leaves drying out by the new year.
Planting kit $20NZ
http://www.pbsltd.co.nz/tobacco_planter_kits.html Tobacco shredder: $40US
https://www.leafonly.com/pipe-tobacco-leaf/tobacco-shredders/tobacco-leaf-shredder-cutter Each tobacco plant produces about 100g of tobacco after curing and removing the middle rib from the leaves. So after 2 plants are done and processed you’re money ahead.

>>1101532 Hi guys. I'm looking for some advice. I'd like to get into tobacco pipes as something to add to my outdoor activities. What sort of questions should I ask when I'm looking at stuff? What should I look for in a pipe and in the tobacco? I smoke weed almost everyday, so tobacco tastes like shit to me. Taste and harshness are important. I really like long Sherlock looking pipes, but I don't know if that's something I should start with or not.
And before no weed allowed. I know, it was relevant though.
