In January I'm using my remaining vacation which will be about 5 days including the weekend.
Constraints:
1)lower 48 flying commercial means limited gear
2)gf in tow who likes being /out/ but is not as technically skilled. As an example she is altitude sensitive above 10K and can handle ~5-10miles of moderate hiking at a time
3)not really interested in the 4 corner states as I go out there 2-3 times a year as my "normal" long weekend/vaca destinations.
4)thinking of west coast states. Been to OR/WA in the summer and it was great. Never been to CA. From what I have read Yosemite is not so great in winter unless you snowshor or Xcunt ski (see #1 above).
