>>1104268i have a rope ruck system, using rope in a butterfly coil with carabiners connecting either loop end to my belt/belt loops on the pants, ending with a kind of suspenders (you have to coil the rope in the exact length you want in the first place though, which require practice and removes the modularity of length control after-the-fact. there might be a better system but ive not rigored it to that point yet)
you can platform your gear onto carabiners on the rope, and onto marlinspike hitches (again, marlinspike hitches require a length of rope to make, and the ruck has fixed length, so youd need foresight)
so far my system has a food/water system, trenching gear, and a tarp-based shelter system, as well as the rope/biners that comprise the whole thing
i agree, a webbing system has a sense of DIY/personalized modularity, as well as minimalism
my next gear purchases intend to be the USGI poncho/woobie (there is a mod to put a head slot in the woobie, so you can tie the poncho/woobie together for a logical system)
