Any cool /out/ locations in Delmarva peninsula that aren't just havens for druggies and tourists? Although, given the option, I'd deal with tourists before drunk kids and druggies..

The islands of the Chesapeake are a blast to explore by boat. You could canoe/ kayak in Blackwater Refuge. All the way to the north is Fair Hill NRMC, lots of trails there and it isn't crowded. I'm pretty sure the northernmost bald cypress swamp somewhere near Seaford, DE. The northern beaches of DE are awesome for surf fishing/ offroading.
tldr: it's slim pickins if you're a landlubber. Get a vessel OP! I was bored as shit until I got a canoe and started beaver/ otter/ muskrat/ nutria trapping/ saltwater angling, crabbing, and hunting sika deer/ ducks/ geese

I've lived here 26 years. No, literally no good outdoor locations on the shore. I have to cross the bridge and drive another hour for decent hiking. All the state parks on the shore are full of creepy gay men fucking in bathrooms, or even creepier pedophile Park rangers. If you like boats there's not a better area in the US to be though.

To answer your question. They've all been mentioned already. Black water refuge, the Cypress swamp , assitegue island. They're are countless cornfields to go get drunk in. There are some short trails in the Pokomoke forest around furnace town/Snow Hill.

Basically get a small boat, out on the water you might as well be in a deep wilderness in terms of population density, pretty much anywhere that you can get by foot will see heavy traffic, but out on the eastern shore you can easily have no other person around for 4-6mi and help is an hour to thirty minutes away at a minimum, plus there's a ton of abandoned buildings and whatnot to explore that haven't been turned into drug dens.

I should also add that I'm in Southern VA, so the eastern shore down here is a little different down here compared to what you have up there, but you've also got more islands bayside.
