What up bros. Really interested and enjoy hiking. I live in central Kentucky and hiking red river gorge is a weekly thing for me. In the spring I want to hike as much of the sheltowee trace as I can in 5 days. So I’m try to learn effective backpacking. So tomorrow I’m attempting a one night solo backpack a fairly easy to get to spot. This is my pack.
>nearly a gallon of water because water at my chosen campsite is an issue and also a water filtration cap plus liter bag and cleaner syringe
>eno hammock
>mosquito nest for hammock
No tarp/rain fly because forecast is crystal clear as of right now
>stick fired stove
>two pot set
>a hatchet
>a knife with striker sparker thingy
>over packed on food a little for a overnight stay just to add weight for potentionally longer hikes, 6 oz of beef jerky, two packs of ramen, two packets of breakfast oatmeal some m&m’s and some coffee
>biodegradable tp that after I took this picture I thought about it and just rolled a ton off and then folded the shit out of it and put in a ziplock bag
>a French press because I can’t find a pour over in any store here and fuck the police
>first aid kit
>extra socks and pair of boxers are in a ziplock back inside the cavity of the pot set
>also a ziplock bag of dryer lint in the pot cavity
>some rope to hang my food because bears are definitely a thing in that area
I know the area super well and the trail I’m on I’ve travelled about 10 times. Also awesomely the spot I’m camping at manages to have cellphone reception. 3 bar LTE.
Thoughts? I need a bigger bag.
