>>1112166Highest windspeed ever recorded on planet earth, over 150 deaths on the mountain, wind chill lower than -100F, wind speeds of over 200 mph. Hurricane force winds 200+ days of the year.
Recently mt washington was the 2nd coldest spot on earth, only 2 degrees behind a spot in the Yukon. The Yukon that day had 6mph winds, Mt washington that day had 75mph wind gusts. You tell me which of the 2 places felt colder.
There are many times mt washington is in the top ten coldest places on planet earth, and routinely is the absolute coldest place on earth when wind chill is factored in.
I get it, you only look at elevation. Seems that's the only thing that should matter to a left coaster. Remember also, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 has a building on top of it.
It's not the elevation, it's the weather. The elevation has nothing to do with the challenge of my Washington. Remember, there are roads in the world that take you near 20K feet elevation. I landed in La Paz Bolivia at 13k feet at the airport. That's significantly higher than most everything on the left coast. I guess because there's roads there it means it's not high or something according to you.
Again, so that you understand, it's the weather, not the elevation, that is why mt washington is difficult.
