Im gonna be straight with you
I live in Miami Florida
As soon as school is out in June I will graduate High School
I am going to go to Gates of the Arctic National Park and spend a month there
This is what I need
A recommendation for a pair of boots that will carry me through and a good tent
I am not a novice because I hike in Colorado most summers but I AM NO WHERE NEAR EXPERIENCED enough to make the adequate judgments for good equipment in Alaska so all help is greatly appreciated

Alaska seem pretty similar to my region and I think you need boots that are pretty water resistant. Boots that won't be soaking wet if you accidentally step into water. Gore tex or leather material with water proofing product on them. Not sure if you want specific brand reccomendations, I don't know what's on the American market. Go to a store and try them on before you buy. As for tents, it's summer time so it doesn't have to be that exceptional. As long as it keeps the bugs out. Probably lots of mosquitos in Alaska.

Shotgun for sure.
Wool socks.
Water filtration.
Fire starting tool.
Waterproof boots but a good amount of socks are more important because your feet will get wet if you are doing non meme hiking.
A good sleeping bag.
Wool pants
Wool sweater.

This is not a meme, so thank you for your help. A second person is nonnegotiable because this has to be done on my own (just a personal thing) which is why i want to know as much as possible.
The plan is arrive in fairbanks, take the secondary plane to anaktuvuk Pass and hoof it to kobuk from where i will fly home. Should be a +/- 20 day hike.
I will either have a mossberg 590a1 shotgun or a 50 beowulf rifle with me (advice on which seems better?)
and i know the general first aid, wool clothes, and bring food kind of stuff (the rice thing was a meme)
I have a low temperature sleeping bag and an adequate pack (kelty n such)

Not sure if this is helpful, because Europe based, but Lundhags are like the gold standard for hiking boots in arctic conditions. watertight and with enough ankle support.
For tenty, I had good expiriences with a Bergans duo light, a tunnel tent from a Norwegian maker. Like you need something sturdy because lots of wind, a porch where you can cock, and the tunnel tent is easy to keep dry even in prolonged rain weather
I'd also say you need a good sleeping bag, expect night frosts even in summer, so-4°C comort rating at least and adequate mat
Last item is good rain gear, like a 3 layer shell for jacket and 2 layer for pants, like GoreTe or Dermizax.
Other kitt is the usually stuff you'll need for camping, plus maybe anti bear stuff and emergency stuff depending on area

put everything in watertight stuff bags, use loksak for sensitive electronics, gaiters work real good in the muck, and you want to bring tea, a hot beverage is like a day saver when it really sucks

P.S. weather can suck a lot a in the arctic at times, and you'll be forced to wait it out in your tent. So yeah, you kinda gotta cook in your tent/porch, which means fire hazard. Thats why I use a remote canister stove (Kovea Spider) to minimize risk here.
Also, piss bottle, because you really don't want to leave your cozy warm sleeping bag, put on full storm gear and get all your gear wet just to take a leak.
Also, bring a good book, you want something to read when you gotta kill time.

Depends what you mean with arctic. If you got trees, you got wood, which means you got free fuel, which means cooking times are not that important.
Cereals, rice, lentils, dried veggies and meats are a good idea.

If you talk arctic arctic, you got no trees and no free fuel, and cooking time matters a lot, in which case you need to buy or make your own instant menus, instant mashed potatoes, couscous, instant refried beans, stuff like that. there are websites to teach you how to do your own DIY instant meals. if you have your own drier and can dry out your own stuff it helps a lot.

Simple leather boots. No gore-tex, they'll stay wet and heavy once they get soaked. Alternatively trail running shoes that can be dried over night. It sucks with wet socks but you get used to it.

I'm whith you there man, but it comes with a huge caveat, it needs to be really solid boots, and you need to grease them often, like at least twice a week. Like I use Swiss milsurp KS90 as my goto boots, but even those tanks need grease every 3 days or so if you walk the swamps.

So you need to carry your fuel in and that changes a lot of things. you need to go full dehydrated food then. Any chance you got a resupply point in your month /out/, because it is damn hard work carrying a month of food and fuel. I'd recommend you to start a spreadsheet, like use one of those on-line calculators to calculate your daily calories need, see how much fat, carbs and proteins you need and start menu planing from there.

Get a good bock on edible plants in the area, after a week of eating dehydrated you'd suck cock for some fresh greens. Also, do you have a realistic chance at catching some fish? Like a fishing kit often helps, but you need to catch something to justify the extra weight.
Like said, a full month is hard with no supplies, depends a bit on if you got to make your daily mark or if you have time to scavenge and fish.

look mate. fishing in rivers I've never been to and grizzly bears which we don't have here is nothing I can give you a qualified answer for. In general, a small travel rod with some lures can put enough fish on the table. Still, I'd recommend you to do your route planing sensibly if you are in new terrain, like give yourself a week in the wild first, then hit a town, resupply, head out again and have yourselves options to hit civilization (the nearest road) if you got to. You are new to the arctic and more importantly you are solo, which is risky, lots of shit can go wrong and you don't have much slack when you are alone in the wild.
You can send packages with supplies ahead of you, and then see how well you fare and stay out as long as you seem prudent. But yeah, take it slow for starters and take your time to settle into the environment. Arctic really sucks at times.

It's insensible to make a 30 days no outs solo trip in the arctic when you have never been there. This really can kill you.

You can still have a great time going to Alaksa, tramp around, camp, do dayhikes and weekenders, fish and do cool shit and learn til you feel fit for the big walk.

I'm a friend of OP and I may join him. OP does cross country and hikes i'm even less experienced than him. My 5k run time is like 28 minutes if If I train in the months leading up to this, do you think I'd be able to do it?
I'm planning on doing other hikes leading up to it with him

You have a lot of training to do. I suggest you don't.
Also, OP, I'd suggest you get your hands on a pair of Xtratufs. If you're gonna be in Alaska, a rainboot is the only thing that is going to keep your feet dry. And make sure to bring bug nets for EVERYTHING.

I've been /out/ since I was 10, with one major week+ trip a year, as well as 5-10 weekend trips a year. I hunt, used to fish, and have a decent grasp on edible wild foods. I can read a map. I know how to build shelter, start fire, and clean water with shit out in the woods. I would not attempt this. I'm not ready, and you most certainly aren't.

I suggest milsurp mukluks, and what are commonly known as “Mickey mouse” boots that are rated for -40F weather. Get wool liners and thick wool socks, lots of them.
