>>1117819When using a 3-season tent in wintertime you'll be putting it to the test, which it may or may not handle.
- The poles can break due to strong wind/poor set up (you can avoid the latter)
- Wind can tear the tent fabric
- Snow can go through ventilation flaps
- Tent can break down from the weight of snow on your tent
This all depends on the build quality of your tent, which is usually sturdier on 4-season tents (which also makes them heavier).
If you're setting up where there's a lot of snow, make sure you get some proper snow-pegs. The ones you currently have will probably be ripped out of the ground before you even fall asleep.
If you don't want to buy a new tent, test it first on shorter trips, where you're not fucked if it collapses halfway through the night.
>>1117834The liner should help quite a lot. Does your sleeping pad hold up? You'll probably want something with an r-rating of atleast 4. You can insulate further by using branches of evergreen/other pine trees under your mat - just make sure it doesn't pop your synthetic mat ;)
