There's tons of small items that aren't terribly expensive but are worth investing a couple bucks extra on IMO, especially since many will pretty much last for a lifetime.
A good hair comb like a Cricket Carbon or Silkomb won't scratch the scalp or snag hair, and some like the Silkomb are extra slick so they glide beautifully. About $15.
A good set of nail clippers for sharp clean cuts, such as a KIYA. Use a nail file afterwards for best results. About $30.
A good shaving razor - either a straight razor or a safety razor will give a much faster and more comfortable shave than any disposable, and they are cheaper to own over time unless you buy some ultra snob model for like $300+. For even better results, get a good quality badger brush and shaving soap. About $60 for a full set, and safety blades are like $10/year.
If you write by hand, good quality pens. Jetstream, Energel, V5, G2 are great options depending on writing style and surface. About $3/pen.
