Either way, the options you have given us to choose from (sleeping bag or wool blanket) aren't optimal for a sleeping bag, because your butt will get cold. When loft is compressed it loses its insulation (the dead air inside the loft). What you need is a topquilt and underquilt setup, which a peapod will emulate decently for the time being.
