I bought a pair of fucking Scarpa hiking boots for 350 euros. Used so much because I wanted to buy boots for life. After the first hunting trip in the mountains my toes were blue. Do you guys have any good tips for different boots? For now I use my old (Norwegian) army boots.

How are they lasting? I'm on Meindls just now(supplied by work) but my boss has developed an obsession with some of the technical Husky boots. Part of me wishes I could go back to my big silly bright orange Haix. My boss is all about longevity, so if I tell him some a non had a pair of saw boots that lasted like 5 years he might get me a pair.

The pair in that shot are about 4 years old. They are beat to shit. You can see the toe cap is poking through. But I'm very happy with how long they've lasted and I will definitely be buying another pair.

Regular running shoes for day to day life and trail running shoes for outing. I did my first hike in regular hiking shoes that are completely ridig and have no flex at all so that combined with my bag being too heavy completely fucked my leg up and I was limping for days afterwards even though I only covered 16 km a day for two days.

Teva most of the time. Great for river fishing and dog walking or just about anything that doesn't involve snow. I will wear them with socks as needed for poison ivy or dry winter weather. Boots for cold wet weather. Going on 3 years with my current pair.

They are pretty good and comfortable to walk with, my only complaint is that they are not water proof/resistant enough, and yes I do clean them and apply water proofing stuff on them before I go /out/. They keep my feet relatively dry but a little bit of moisture still seeps in when I'm in wet areas. To be fair I didn't pay that much when they were on sale. For the price they do a good enough job.

A couple of years ago i bought some cheap chinese trekshoes that were aweful and made it felt like my toenails were falling off. I hiked the remaining 3 hours in these sandals and it went alright.
The best part is that i bought them 9 years ago for €1 at some grocerystore

If you try trail-running in trail-running trainers and then in hiking boots then you'll realise why these different categories exist. I won't even touch the climbing part. Just because you like to LARP around the countryside in your shitty leather combat boots doesn't mean there's a reason for the rest of us to ignore the advantages of appropriate footwear.
