>>1130086So angry anon. Not everyone lives in a cubicle filled, corporate hell-hole. We're glad that you take passion in your career but that's not a reason to diss other people's. You obviously are looking to progress quickly in your career and make as much money as soon as possible no matter the work involved, that's not always everyone elses life goal.
I have 4 seasonaI jobs. I work as a raft guide and paddling instructor in the summer, I work as a bartender at a ski resort in the winter, I bartend at a nightclub throughout the year and do some grant writing for a river conservation non profit in the fall. It's fun and I make good money.
Working in those kinds of places I meet tons of people who work in senior positions at businesses that are seasonal/project based or whatever and dont require a 9-5 schedule.
My friend sells insulating window inserts and he takes off in the summer for a couple months so he and his girlfriend can travel because no one needs insulation in the summer.
I know plenty of people in the trades (especially welders and electricians) as well as engineers who work on a project until its done and then draw employment/travel/get a side job till the next one.
People who are able to choose to work as much as they want like realtors and any other sort of independant contractor. Know a ski instructor who has his own asphalt/concrete finishing company and makes bank in the summer.
The local google plant hires my electrical engineer friend in 6-9 month project based contracts. He's been an EE over 30 years and he always goes traveling on his off months.
The point being that you're looking down at someone choosing not to work for a long period out of the year and its nothing wrong with that at all. Tons of people do it who arent " in manual labor or retail". You're looking too hard at this from only a white collar desk job perspective without considering that other people might have different goals in life. And you're on /out/
Grow up, anon.
