Is California or Washington better for going /out/? (Hunting, fishing, camping, etc)
I live in Colorado currently but am going out of state for school and would like to hear your guys thoughts

Go to Oregon. Nobody lives there and both big schools are so far out in the woods it is like /out/ all the time.

Outdoors activity in CA has exploded the last few years. There is normies, garbage, rude Chinese and thugs all over the trails. Seen this shit in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles area.

Compared to other schools, OSU feels like it's in the woods.

That being said, I could say the same thing about Portland compared to other "big" cities.

I live in Idaho, but second for Oregon beaches and coves.

My favorite time is fall. Nobody there, and the blustery weather makes it far more dramatic. Great chance for introspection and alone time.

From Corvallis, 3-5 miles to the north or west gets you into the woods, and a bit further if you go south or southwest. East, you need to travel 25 miles or so to get into the foothills of the Cascades.

Snow happens every now and then. Mostly just a constant drizzle.

I remember one day when it got down to 20 degrees F and everyone was huddling inside. I biked to a trailhead and walked up above the clouds. It was pretty awesome.

Southern Washington is the best for hiking. There are mountains everywhere and the trails are not overly traveled. Just did Helens this weekend and we were the last people on the mountain- it was such a peaceful feeling to be the only people for miles around.

If i get accepted into the grad program i want, then i'm emigrating from CA to WA.

I live near Yosemite, but i avoid going because it is always overpopulated with normies, tourists, and human filth. It's beautiful, but the amount of people constantly their ruin it.

I hope WA appreciates my red votes and small personal footprint.

Hi OP I'll chime in. I've lived in California my whole life all over the state. Spent some time in Oregon as well for some outdoor job training.

>Beaches
If you like beautiful coastline with rocks and coves check on Big Sur coastline they have a great restaurant called rocky point

>Desert
death valley and joshua tree national park for the days you're in the mood for some dry hot weather....death valley is absolutely gorgeous and after it rains they what are known as superblooms where all the flowers suddenly sprout for a few days

>Snow
check out lake tahoe and mammoth lakes and truckee...great skiing but can be pricey....also lake tahoe is great for hiking in summer and the lake itself is gorgeous...great restaurants a couple casinos really good firework show over the lake

>Trees
the giant redwood sequoias of northern california are the biggest trees in the world...check out avenue of the giants...its a highway that runs through the northern california redwoods

>waterfalls and hiking
yosemite all the way....biggest waterfall in all of north america...tourists stick to yosemite valley which is like 1 percent of the entire park...if you a more than a mile away from there you will be fairly secluded..
however yosemites' nextdoor neighbor kings canyon national is really good as well and in some ways better also much less people

The bad is that i've never heard of fishing ever being good anywhere here but neither in oregon or washington as well
hunting is about the same for all 3 states

california is expensive however the more farther youre away from the bay area and or major cities the less it gets....there is dirt cheap areas near the national parks

Oregon was very green and its rains 366 days a year there....very depressing

washington is basically oregon its the same thing
