>>1132276This is exactly what I want to do.
The only problem is that I don't just want to go off-grid for a couple of months a year - I want to /out/ completely and permanently, leave civilization behind.
Obviously it'd require purchasing a plot of land but therein lies the problem. By owning property I'd be compelled to pay annual property taxes meaning that I'd be broke in a few years and in all likelihood be removed from the land by force. Seriously, I cannot begin to describe how irate it makes me that you have to continually pay for something you already own.
Anyway, there's only a handful of countries in the world that don't have property taxes. Some have very restrictive rules on foreigners purchasing land and others aren't viable for long-term living with regards to fishing and farming. Sure, I could buy my own plot and build a second cabin to rent out to cover the cost but that mandates human interaction, financial transactions, online advertisement which means that I wouldn't have left anything behind at all.
The only way that I can conceive to make it happen would be to find somebody who already owns some land, request lodging on their estate, pay for the privilege and get a lawyer to sort out the details since in all likelihood the landlord would die after 40-50 years.
What do you think?
