Pic related, natch. I found all these shark teeth in a creek the last time I went camping.

Twenty Mile Creek near Booneville, MS. Years back when they built the highway there they cut the top off a nearby hill and used the dirt to build up the road. The hill contained several layers of shark teeth and other fossils. So now they're all in the roadside and get washed down into the creek every time it rains. You can just wade in and pick up a handful. Shit's cash.

It's actually just on the side of the highway lol. Right where Hwy 45 crosses 20 Mile Creek. It's officially the WM Browning Cretaceous Park. There's some decent campsites up there, plus the Natchez Trace and some Indian Mounds.

What's there to do /out/ in Baton Rouge? I'm in Hattiesburg and don't get to Louisiana as often as I'd like.

In the city? Lol, next to nothing, unless you consider getting shot an /out/ activity. We're a drinking town with a college football problem. Lost of fishing, hunting and camping in surrounding parishes, though. Swamp stuff in the Atchafalaya basin nearby.

I'm massively autistic for prehistoric shit and nature in general and I love camping but
I haven't gone out specifically for fossils, I own a few but they're bought, I'll post them tomorrow regardless of if anyone's interested, but does anyone have any top tips?

I've read up a lot on the subject but it couldn't hurt to learn a thing or two from the fossilfags of /out/.

I found a rock and smashed it open to find this small calcite. I got it from a local shell path which is just dug up ground from the ocean floor nearby.

don't be bothering me with every fucking shark tooth you find in a roadcut specifically designated for public collection of sharks teeth.

also I don't need to look at the Moroccan trilobite you bought at a rock shop.

I also don't really want to see your fossil shells, leaves, wood, corals, bryozoans, etc. In fact don't bother me unless you find a vertebrate skeleton.
