I'm a pretty experienced /out/ guy, and I've camped outside for only a day, but I somehow got drawn into going on a 4 day hike with my gf. What should I bring? I've wanted to get into this anyways, so any advice for what I should pack?

>warm blankets or a heater for inside the tent if it's a cold place where you live
>a gun or a type of weapon
>2 or 3 outfits

So much unneeded stuff in this list. You don’t need:
-A gps if you have map and compass
-Sunscreen only if you’re not in the woods
-Camelbak
-gaiters
-energy beverages
-cup (use your water bottle)
-flashlight
-repair kits (just don’t be an idiot with your stuff)
-tripod (use a stick as a monopod
-trekking poles
-hand sanitizer (you already have soap)
-soap (you have dish soap)
-pen and paper

Not a bad list, but there’s a lot of redundancy.

honestly pretty much just common sense items. ask yourself what you need to survive. also want to factor in the weight of pack since doing 4 days of hiking. go blow a months pay on light weight sleeping bag, tent and other gear.

>food (suggest freeze dried "mountain house" is a good brand, easy and light weight. also snacks, trail mix, couple boxes of granola bars, jerky)
>light weight cooking gear (my cook pot is bout size of cereal bowl, propane bottle of similar size plus screw on burner that is small nough to store in pot)
>water (look into getting water filter system. you can't expect to carry 4 days of water in your ruck)
>fire source
>light source(bring a spare)
>a Blade (knife or hatchet)
>sleep gear + tent
>toilet paper
>Clothes (extra extra socks since will be lots of hiking)(make sure you're prepared for the temperatures of the area better to have a heavy coat and not need it than to not have and have a foot of snow fall)
>quit being a city cuck

if you can properly pack your ruck there should be a little space left for a couple luxury items. where bouts you hiking anyhow, what's the climate like?

I go outside plenty. After breaking down camp, hiking for the day, setting up camp, cooking, eating, cleaning, putting stuff away, collecting and purifying water, hanging your food bag, how much else are planning on doing? By that point I’m usually done for the day, and just want to read.
Or do you just LARP and go into the woods a mile and spend three days jerking yourself off?

Not trying to show how alpha I am, just pointing out that even a first timer doesn’t need all of that. A first timer with beginner, non ultralight gear is gonna be stuck carrying a 50 pound pack and they’re going to be miserable and ruin the experience
