What do you guys think about music in the /out/doors? Do you have any favorites in your playlist (or a dedicated /out/ playlist for that matter)? do you bring a trusty harmonica or guitar to ease the senses with some tunes? Tell me your musical experiences, thoughts, and feelings, in the presence of nature

I avoid brining guitars for that reason. Any other instrument is fine. But once there's a guitar every other person feels like they need to play 30 seconds of a song over and over again

I like having a Ukulele. They're small, weigh so much less than a guitar. And I personally enjoy the sounds it makes. Very upbeat, happy music.

Well its kinda a mixed bag, on one hand some of my greatest inspirations for songs come from like vistas or a soothing place to play. But if you're with the wrong crowd of people they will just start asking you to play wonderwall and chanting for oyu to do it or some shit, even if oyu say you dont know the song and wanna play. Or you play your guitar for 5 minutes and love it before your other friends pull out 3 more and say LETS JAM! and all start doing completely different progressions and give you a headache. Really depends who youre with I guess op, I still always bring mine if I can because Im happiest when Im somewhere special and with my guitar.

Considering making a lightweight didgeridoo for backpacking trips that are only a week or two long. My good didge is upwards of 10 lbs and I really don't want to be carrying that.

Whenever I go with a group of people who prefer drive-in site camping, we usually have some variety and jam. Generally have a didge, guitar, uke, and percussion of some sort.

When I hiked alone, I would sometimes spend like three or four without meeting a single human been. Having no mean of entertainment, I would pretty much philosophy and whistle all day erry day.
These days I'm quite a nice whistler, I've managed to even master a closed mouth technique, shit is cash and people think its awesome

As while he does specify "the right people," should he seem too enthusiastic about that set of instruments, it would sound like he was endorsing a more broad set of the sort who use that than he intends.

You should go out there to embrace nature, not to escape it with headphones. I do listen to music when on runs or bike rides though. Mostly driving punk, indie rock, or hip hop. Stuff like Titus Andronicus, FIDLAR, Danny Brown, Death Grips, The Replacements, Wingnut Dishwashers Union... lately I've been listening to a ton of The Nation of Ulysses.

So yeah, the only good music for backpacking/camping is live music with acoustic instruments. It feels very organic.
