Collected some of these today to plant in my yard

But not sure if good idea given that I've heard people say that it could result in a 100 foot tree eventually falling on one's house.

Silver Maple is a pioneer species, which means it's brittle and short-lived. Preferably avoid.

Coloniser trees that establish themselves in disturbed areas. They don't live long because they're designed to perform a holding action until mainline forest trees appear. That aside, this type of tree tends to favour river and stream banks
