I'm in Western PA and it's literally wooded everywhere. Go find a nice patch of woods and camp. Maybe hit up Moraine State Park, lake Arthur is beautiful!

Litter is an issue, true, but Philly certainly has a fucking bedtime. (Literally, in that all bars close at 2AM)
There's a real peacefulness about walking around the city at night, doesn't even have to be terribly late. It's not that loud.

Living in Philly now, can confirm both that cities suck and the Philly especially sucks. Maybe it would be better with a vehicle, but as it stands there's no way for me to get innawoods. Had 5 days off work one day with no obligations, walked from 6 am til about 8 pm one day just to get to Wharton State Forest in NJ so I could spend 3 days camping before walking home, that's how badly I want out of Philly. Lease ends in 7 months...

Western PA native, can confirm. I grew up fishing and biking Moraine and have very fond memories. Depending on where you are located there are tons of things to do in the state. I don't live there anymore but visit frequently to see family and hunt/fish. I usually do my /out/ related stuff in North Central PA since the landscape and wilderness there is amazing. Check out the national or state forests, they both offer great opportunities for whatever you are into. I go backpacking/native brookie fishing in Sproul SF in the spring and it is one of the things I look forward to every year.
