I want to start bringing my big idiot outdoors. She's used to running offleash for a while each fall, but last year got skipped and she's been couch surfing since, a lapsed birddog.

I'm thinking harness and lead will be fair to blazed trails?
Breed is picrelated, would I need to work her up to a ten mile loop, or would you think the breed is naturally athletic enough to handle it off the bat? She's not overweight or anything, but she's my parents dog and they just watch TV with her all day.

I'm a bit worried about running into some autistic who can't bear to see a dog on the trails, what are you experiences with that? Either as a hiker or a dog-havin' hiker. So long as I pack her shit out, right?

Is cold ever a concern for non-racing breeds? 40sF good for her uncovered?
