Here's a thought for you all. I see a strong trend in my circles and acquaintances that people tend to want the opposite of their daily life for recreation. I'm curious to know if you anons see it too:

If we have a physically demanding job, we want leisure time for our recreation, and machines to play with.

If we have a less physically demanding, more mentally taxing job, we want a more physical and visceral experience to get us outdoors.

Basically as opposed to an objective outdoor experience that we either seek or don't, it's more like we are just mentally seeking a subjective escape from whatever our norm actually is.

Is this an accurate trend or do I have too small of a sample to observe? Like, in this rock climbing group I'm sort of starting to get in to, very few people seem to have physical jobs. But it's really not an expensive sport, not compared to an ATV or dirt bike, so I can't see it being a cost issue.
