The Foray is an excellent jacket and you can generally find older models for cheap. I got one years ago for $75 off SnC. Plus outdoor research has an infinite guarantee or whatever. You will be quite pleased the jacket.

When you're working outdoors in the rain it's inevitable that you get wet anyway. You can choose waterproof raingear that makes you sweat and collect condensation (assuming this is physically demanding work off course), or breathable clothes that doesn't keep you dry. You're getting wet either way. The trick to staying warm is to stay physically active, just keep on working. Off course a base layer made of wool or some synthetic fabric that dries fast is an advantage.

I got an Endura MT500 a few years back. It's a hard shell that's supposed to be aimed at cycling; it's silvery on the inside and supposed PTFE coated. T'was also fairly pricey (~£150+ from memory).

Got it because I live in England, was cycling quite a lot, and walk most places, and it's constantly pissing with rain or drizzling, and cold.

I didn't particular enjoy owning at all. It provided next to zero insulation, which was kind of understandable, but I was also somehow still getting wet under it, despite it being entirely polymer based.
