I hunt, but opportunity is surprisingly hard to come by in CA. Dove hunting is good in the central valley. Quail hunting is private land only. Deer hunting on public land is near impossible due to heavy poaching, mismanagement, low tag draw and low population. You need to be a part of a duck club to duck hunt. Basically, you need to pay a lot to hunt in CA. That leaves me with pig hunting public land in the chapparal foothills (pic related), but even pig hunting is tarnished by CA. $28 for a pig tag, and if i don't fill the tag and i fail to report no tag use to the CA F&G, then they charge a penalty "fuck you" fee on top of the ~$45 hunting license.
