Where's the best place to Open/Conceal carry a handgun when doing a multi-day camping trip? I would very much prefer to just conceal. This will be in the middle of winter so I'll be bundled up.

I'd appendix carry but that would chafe after how long.
Is a shoulder holster the best bet?

I use the Hill People Gear Kit Bag. This picture makes it look more tacticool than it actually is but I don't have any shots of mine personally and my phone camera got lanced by my car keys.

Anyway, they have several configurations of it that range from small to large, some with PALS on the front. Multiple colors. I have the original which has three conpartments.

Basic rundown is it mounts on your chest, rearmost pocket holds a pistol and has velcro so you can secure whatever. You leave the zippers parted at a corner so you can 'rip' it open, grab pistol with your other hand, and draw.

The other two pockets are for your essentials so that even if you somehow lost your pack or had to ditch it for speed or whatever, you'd still have most of what you need.

I love mine, it goes hiking with me, rides around in my car, and goes to work with me. Really well made. The draw is easy and natural and nobody has to know you have a big scary gun with you.

Pretty much why OP and I look for ways to conceal. Keeps you from getting scared over nothing, and keeps us from actually having to use it when you have your gun-induced psychotic break and try to kill us with your trekking pole or your burr grylls bushkrafting knife.

OK, I'll bite. Former /out/fitter here, actually had to tackle this problem with a few customers.
Best option is a belt or leg holster. If you're wearing a backpack with a hip belt ideally it will be slightly above the belt on your pants and won't interfere with your draw. I'd say leg holster is best though, because it's completely out of the way of things like backpacks and jackets so you have a clear draw.
As for concealed, don't bother you're innawoods.

I use a shoulder holster fot my .44 cap n ball pieta sherif. Stays in my backpack till im deep in. We dont havr e bears here but we have "refugees" that try to cross borders
