I'm 30 and live rural in North Idaho. I think you will like it but do you have work lined up? It's not uncommon in rural areas to either have an extra job or do some sort of self employment on the side unless you have a business entirely of your own. Trades and public employment I'd say are good bets depending where you are.
Your biggest adjustment will be lifestyle. If you are used to the provided amusements of an urban area -museums, concerts, clubs, tons of restaurants, other attractions- you will need to make some changes. You can still find some of that in a small town, but ultimately you will need to learn to find your own worthwhile pursuits...personally, I found this to be a growth opportunity.
You can take up any number of outdoor pursuits, you could learn and practice astronomy, or gardening and permaculture if you are buying any amount of land. Read the classics, study history and philosophy on your own terms. Take up an art.
People criticize a lack of 'things to do', but I believe that no longer being spoon fed with superficial crap (and paying money for it) frees you to pursue growth and personal accomplishment.
My final recommendation: social life will be difficult. Your best bet is to visit a bar or coffee shop semi regularly and try to chat up the staff and patrons, but more importantly you need to try and find some sort of volunteer opportunities. People judge you strongly by your character in small towns. I volunteered with a fire dept and this both gained me a small social circle and also got me an in for my EMS career, ultimately. You can also look for /out/ related clubs and such, but volunteering is a good idea too.
