We're subjected to "mountain driving," which is a lethal test for ESP where failure means death or expulsion from the mountains.
How it works is we're sent out into a blizzard in a car, when visibility varies from 10-40 feet. The road is covered in snow so you can't see the lines. The rest of the world is also covered in snow so you can't see the road. Visibility is so short you can't see other traffic, but you know it's there because every now and then some lights come roaring out of the blizzard headed straight for you. You have to swerve to avoid them, but if you swerve too far you drive off the mountain and die.
you can't slow down because someone will slam into you from behind. You can't pull over because people will think you're on the road, try to follow you, and slam into you. You have to navigate the road completely blind using nothing but memory and ESP. Sadly most people fail, and many of them die.
those of us that survive this test each year get to stay. Yes, we're better outdoorsmen than you. We have to be.
