IMO. If I wanted to carry cord. I would call cord. And I do. Just for something to occupy my hands. During waits you know. Practice knots etc.

The keyfob is more likely to be on me then a bracelet.

Fun to make though. Buddy of mine made a camera strap with the same basic design

Same thing as a bracelet, but weaved into a sort of sock and then partly melted and glued and stitched onto a crepe sole. Just make it large enough for a thin insole and you got it.
It would work better as laceable boots though, for sizing since I doubt a paracord weave dense enough to be of any value is going to have any stretch.
This could honestly work, and since I have a good 80' of paracord lying around, I might try it out.
Still a absolute waste of time and materials though. Just shove some paracord into your jacket pocket, then you won't have to un-weave it.

Theres lots of uses for a small amount of string. Paracord is best used if broken down into the 7 strands, thusly increasing the length by 8 because you can still use the sleeve. You can braid individual strands together as well, or just use the paracord as it is. There are many amazing uses for paracord and the way you can adapt it to your own weight requirements is much better than many other types of cordage on the market.

People hate paracord because they purchase bad products and also don't know how to use paracord.

Sure, you should also carry thse things elsewhere, but the idea of the bracelet is to be there in case you lose all your other gear in an accident. Which in that case would be way better than having nothing at all.

I like them. IMO, paracord bracelets are the only bracelets that do not look gay (unless you use pink camo paracord).

However, they are virtually useless: unbraiding them takes almost as long as braiding them and the outer sleeve of the paracord doesn't always survive it (especially if it's cheap PP cord and you've worn the bracelet in the sun a lot).

Still, they look cool, make quick and easy presents and give you a comfortable way of carrying cord with you.
Also, if you're making them yourself, you can weave some kevlar strings in to get an inconspicious protective bracer - though those are usually so big that they make you look like you're compensating for something.

Burn the ends mate, it won't fray. That's what I did with my paracord laces and paracord coat loop because my coat didn't come with a one.

You dont wear one for cordage, you wear one for what it carries, which in the case of Fowlers bracelet is: Wire Saw, Latex Tubing, Firesteel + Striker + Tinder, Fishing Hook + Line, Needle, Mirror, Whistle.

Sure, cordage is a plus, but the main utility of it is the pseudo survival kit that you will have with you in case you lose all your gear by some chance, in which case, having it would mean the world of difference to not having it.

I don't think it is gay tough. I think its more to get attraction from other people that have the same interest as you. I tried to survive with my ''survival bracelet'' but it did prove its bad side. The fire steel wouldn't work. The paracord was short for uses.
