I’m a highschool senior, and I’ve saved about $3000 for a 2 month tour of my three favorite states in the union: Colorado, Utah, and California. I plan on doing a little bit of everything, chilling in the city, taking some multi day hikes, and doing some wwoofing. The plan is still in it’s infancy but so far I’ve broken my trip into four categories: Accommodation, Transport, Survival/Fun. For Transport, my plan is to Greyhound from Alabama to Colorado, then Utah to North California, then California to Alabama. That’s probably gonna cost around $500. In between those trips I’ll hitchhike around (I’ve done this before please don’t give me that hitchhiking is dangerous Bull), or just take a bus. For Accommodation, I’m going to camp out, WWOOF, or go to a hostel (especially while I’m in the city). I think I’m going to WWOOF for 3 weeks, one week in each state. I’m going to get a National park annual pass 80$, and bank hard on that for entertainment. I think after all other expenses (equipment I need to buy, bus rides, other unforseeable bullshit) I’ll have $1500. That means when I’m not being fed for WWOOFING I’ll have $50 a day. I could feed myself for $5 - $10 a day easy. So thats 40$ for everything else. I don’t even think I’ll need that much when I’m hitchhiking and camping. And a Hostel is usually ~ $30, so I think I’ll save money up as the days go by, which I can use to splurge on expensive things like nice dinners, Weed, and other bullshit in the cities. Also I think I have a friend who will come with, and he has the same amount of money saved. So is this plan realistic? Has anyone else done this? General tips and Discussion?
