As an Australian, I've learnt the hard way that leaving your tent door unzipped for more than 10 seconds at a time will get your tent infested with insects the size of your hand and spiders science is still yet to explain.

Now my question is, is it like this in other countries too?
I ask this because I'm heading off to the Americas for a month long camping trip in the New England and then Vancouver areas. Will everything be trying to kill me there?
