Also yes you do need more than one knife
You use different knives for heavy duty work and delicate work, eg cutting up wires and cooking
Knives sharpened to endure wires will fail at slicing up food and knives sharpened to slice through a tomato perfectly will become really blunt when cutting wires

I normally carry a 8" fixed blade, a puuko and a folder when /out/.

It was a cool knife, but it wasn't as useful as I wanted it to be. That's why I got rid of it, and the full size.

At the time, I think they had a premium Dogfather that featured a full-flat grind, which was probably a huge improvement.

They are THICK. The Dogfather could chop okay, but not near as good as a hatchet. The SoD was too short to chop, too thick to cut, and too heavy for a fighter. It didn't do anything well.

They were cool, but didn't fulfill anything.

Girl’s dad’s birthday is on Friday, she saw the Gerber Suspension multitool and was like “Oh he had that one in Venezuela, he would love a new one!”

I told her nah, pitch in what she would spend on the Gerber and we will get him a Leatherman instead. But she’s on the fence because she thinks he would like the one he had before, but I’m tellin her the go-to is Leatherman and the only reason not to get one is the price.

Is there any reason to buy the Gerber instead of a $70-$80 Leatherman besides it being half the price?
