How do I get into camping and hiking if I have no friends and live in Australia?

I don't just want to walk along trails and go to faggy campsites. I also am opposed to dying

Hiking is mainly a solitary pursuit. having said that the only times I've done multi-day hikes (along marked trails) is with my brothers.
Depending on what kind of person you are, I am open to doing a hike with you. SA here. Get the idea of hiking thru untrammeled wilderness out of your mind though. There are no more frontiers. Get over it.

Start with the trails and campsites, work your way up. You don't wanna pull a McCandless right away

Nothing wrong with a lot of them. Plus they offer you a go-between for when you are getting into it.

Slow down buckaro. You have to start somewhere. Sitting behind you monitor wishing you were an experienced back country hiker. Suck it up. Walk some established trails. Stay in some camp sites. Then go from there.

Bro, I'm in Cairns. There's plenty of day hikes around the area especially if you're willing to drive a few hours, and most if you fuck up someone should rock up sooner or later. Or go for a bit more secluded and head to misty mountains tracks near Tully. Worst come to worst, I'll come for a hike or two
