ct is way underrated for /out/ stuff. there is a spot at Ender's Falls (its like a natural couch in the middle of a waterfall) that i spent hours just sitting smoking joints with my friend and watching the water go by.

tellecott mountian is a great family day hike is a great family hike.

bear mountain is a nice walk on a week day as well.

Here in Slovenia, we had a terrible winter one year four or five years ago where ice took down a lot of trees and then the next year, a storm swept through and destroyed massive swaths of forest, leaving some regions like Siberia after the Tunguska event. And then, the bark bug came and has been destroying pine trees for the last two or three years.

Everything north of Columbus is flat and boring, but to the south and east we have some of the most amazing hills, trails and sights that you'll see east of the Mississipi

Outdoor community is surprisingly big and passionate
Very easy to get in and out of hiking areas
Tons of historical and biblical sites and ruins
Lots of variety for a relatively small area
Trek-able desert is is quite beautiful
Eilat is fantastic for beginner divers
Getting into Southern Sinai is easy
Geography is like a poor man's California, everything is closer
Food is great

Cons:
It's israel
Leave-no-trace is not enforced
You're more worried about Bedouin and Arabs than animals when outdoors
You're never really truly isolated
Geography is a poor man's California
Arsim (the fuckboys/Gangsters/chavs/etc) are mostly despicable
Snow is rare
Don't even get me started on the government
