>>1151394Well good for you, but hypothermia can occur at 32f quite easily, and that's not something to be taken lightly.
I have very low body fat, sleep cold, low resting heart rate and not great circulation. I run hot when active, and require effective wicking even in the winter (hence pile pertex set up) but equally need a good quality insulation piece for when I stop.
A down jacket also makes a great pillow, and I have a lighter weight north face down jacket I take in the summer months which gets used primarily as a pillow.
It's about context. Some of my trips are alpine, no fire, exposed conditions. Some of my trips are lowland, forest and loch, big fires. Choice in clothing depends on what I'm doing.
