have you ever seen a modern oil well?
many people would be surprised how clean modern oil pads actually are. and how much environmental protection and safety protocols are involved.
sure oil companies are operating for a profit. that's business. but conservative states currently developing oil resources like ND, MT, WY, etc. are in fact well regulated and managed responsibly.
and this whole thing does not mean suddenly all of Utah federal lands are going to be strip mined. it just means some of it "may" be open to typical BLM managed land usages.
