If it's your first time, I strongly recommend against doing it while out camping. If no-one in your group has done it at all, I VERY strongly recommend against it.
Probably not what you want to hear, but trust me, the first time can be very intense and profound, and if you're not in an environment in which you feel 100% comfortable and safe, it could be a real shit time, especially without a friend present who has experience.

While tripping it is very important to not freak out. Just go along with it and don't try and fight the shrooms. If you can't handle it then just lie down and sleep (or wait it out). Start with just one, wait 30 mins and then another if you can handle it. Drink lemon or lime juice, the citrus helps to break down the shrooms more efficiently meaning a strongly for shroom effect. Never forgot that you are on shrooms and essentially everything you experience is because of them (example: there are no monsters in your tent)

H...have you ever actually taken mushrooms? You're not going to think there are monsters in your tent.

OP, just make sure you have all your comforts and backups set up. Set up a nice safe camp, plenty of water, food, etc. - you don't want any insecurities or worries. Get to a nice calm place mentally and a fun, relaxing setting and eat them together. Go into it without any expectations. It'll be fantastic. Enjoy, they're amazing.

It's worth having one sober person being around if you're all first-timers.

>Arrive early, very hot day
>Packed water filter I hadn't used yet, big Gatorade bottle full of water, solid pack with lamp, rope, food, blanket, tarp, etc.
>First time in the park
>Go fuck off on the trail, find great walking stick, have a good time
>noon-ish, eat two tabs of acid
>come 1 PM I feel barely anything and I'm sitting in a bunch of sorrel next to a beautiful creek staring down
>eat two more tabs
>walk the long sorrel-lined trail
>as a moron, go look for four leaved sorrel (hint: doesn't exist)
>get transfixed with finding this stupid four leaved sorrel
>thirty minutes pass and dem colors start getting real vivid mang
>start just hiking out further to find a sweet spot
>alone on the trail, sweating profusedly, hiking pretty fast up a fairly tall hill
>mfw I hiked 12 miles right out of the park boundary on the skyline trail in my deluded tripping balls mind admiring the scenery
>finally find this place, be spiritually one with a tornado of hawks riding the warm air currents up through the forested valley as the rolling hills of trees move and blend and pulsate like flames in a fire
>the outlines of the land create rainbow impressions that shine brilliant colors where they meet the bright blue sky
>oh fuck I am so out of water
>sweating like a pig, getting a bit delirious (beyond LSD)
>find creek, no idea how this goddamn water filter works
>can't figure it out
>hike all the way back in a sort of bad state of mind while hoping I won't get too dehydrated I faint since nobody knows where I am and I'm completely tripping balls

Made it back okay though, just, definitely make sure you pack more water than you need. I have done acid plenty times but for some reason this time it made me sweat about fifty times more than usual. Great trip though, oh man. Life realisations and all that.

If you're in that situation again, you should just drink the water. Nothing in there is going to kill you overnight, and from a fast-moving stream your chances are pretty good of catching nothing at all. It's certainly better odds than not drinking any water.

Yeah, I filled up a bottle anyway in case I ran out of my gatorade remnants, but obviously I wasn't in a super clear state of mind on four hits of acid.

I love mushrooms when /out/, but I only take a little (less than an eighth). It's fun to be giggly, but I wouldn't want to trip balls and get lost. I've gotten lost sitting on a sidewalk, after too many mushrooms so... yeah... maybe tell your friends that you want less than what they have. Being a little high is fun, for me, but too much rarely does anything but make me laugh and forget where I am.

Huh, I disagree with this. While I enjoy the giggles, a good psychedelic experience shouldn't be threshold dose, because it's an uncomfortable edge to be on for me. It's not a breakthrough dose, though - there's a big difference between 'visual trip' dose and 'ego death' dose, and I like being just beyond the threshold of the former.

To each their own--we all react differently. I don't think it's a matter of disagreements so much as it is probably a matter of our chemistry. Personally, no matter how many mushrooms I've taken, I've never seen any kind of visuals (not sure if that's what you meant by "visual trip").

Make sure you do not have any obligations within the next few days i.e. work, funerals, church, anything you could be late for. Make sure that people you don't want finding out about your tripping are out of mind and out of sight. My bad trip was due to me being paranoid that my parents were going to be at a fireworks display I planned on watching. lol. Also yes to water. I usually don't like water. However, when I was tripping my second time, I downed an entire bottle in like 10 seconds. I didn't even think about what I was doing. It just went down my throat and was magical.

tripping and camping can really go hand in hand....they're seems to be times when they really go hand in hand. Sometimes I get a strange confusion while tripping, It's best not to wander off (or freak out) when you realize your crazy as hell atm. Getting lost can be a problem if your not lucid...

You can only do so much, as a tolerance builds quickly. The rule of thumb with LSD was that you need twice the dose the next day to trip.
