I have worn many outdoor/'tactical' pants; Prana Brions are by far the best (you can even wear them as normal everyday pants and not look like a jackass). Absurdly comfy. They feel slightly fragile so that was what i was skeptical about at first but I walk through razor sharp pointy knee high plants all the time and so far so good.

I wear the ripstop version of these Helikon-Tex UTP pants and they are great, even better than my 5.11 Taclite Pros which was my previous go-to pair. Just make sure to order one size bigger than what you are used to. Dries very quickly while being water resistant and breathable enough for most /out/istic activities.

The gaiters are OR Verglas. They've got 3 layer waterproof breathable membranes and a reinforced cuff so you don't tear your pants if you catch a crampon on them. I'd recommend them.

I just bought a pair of the Helikon CPU trousers in Polish Woodland, usually my go to pant are 5.11 Stryke with flextac but I was hankering for some more 'flarge and they only do the cheaper less pocketed pants in multicam. I like the additional thigh pockets both trousers provide. While the 5.11 does seem a more durable pant I'm pretty stoked with the Helikons too so I'll probably get some more

The thing about 5.11 pants is they tend to run short. I'm autistic about not having part of my lower leg or socks show when I'm folding my legs and the Helikon pants are great in this regard. Plus they always have a more fashionable cut while still fully functional, which IMO is still a better bet than the 5.11's slight edge in durability.

if it's fair weather, I use the outdoor research men's ferrosi pants. they look terrible but have worked for a few years. I normally roll them up to a 3/4 pant type thing. the side pocket is starting to come off, though. I've abused the hell out of them so I'm not surprised they're starting to have some damage.

if it's colder, I wear a random pair of us milsurp black bdu pants. these things I've had for decades and they will not die.

Alrighty ladies and gents, I have a challenge. I am looking for pants in elastic waist band (2+ size differences). My belt will fix the rest. If I go hiking for a week I lose weight, if in the office I am gaining. I want universal pants. My office has no dress code on pants type so mostly all is good (no camo).

Do you mean full elastic waist? Most of today's tactical pants have partial elastic waist and they're good enough for what you want, I'd think. My Condor Stealth 610T, 5.11 Apex, and Helikon-Tex UTP pants all have it.

I won a gift card from a climbing comp. I got myself an adidas Terrex all season pants and adidas flex hike pants.

The all season pants are stupid comfy since they’re lined with fleece and I really like the pockets. They’re a micro mesh pocket that allows the warmth of my legs heat up my hands fast.

The flex hike pants are awesome for summer hiking/climbing. Pretty comfy and very stretchy. And they look fresh as fuck, pic related (they’re great workout pants as well because of the stretchiness and breathability).

My only regret is I got them a size too small and they fit pretty tight. I guess its a good thing since I want to lose twenty lbs anyways. I even got some their hiking shoes and fucked that up too and they run small as well. Oh well!

Anyways yeah. I was skeptical about adidas as an out brand but so far they’ve exceed my expectations and for the price, they were a bargain! I’ll definitely recommend them to you guys. Actually, the flex hike are on sale for 55$ right now.

5.11 Apex pants. They look very inconspicuous, still have enough pockets for a knife, multitool etc and are available in a variety of earthy colors. Have worn them in a few 10-mile hikes and they are very breathable and quick drying, but I'd say they are a bit too thin for winter /out/ings. I also like the Vorras or Hydra pants from Pentagon, a Greek company.
