I wash my hair almost every day. If I don’t it gets greasy and just doesn’t look clean. If /out/ I can survive without washing it but after three days I at least want to run some water through it.

I shampoo everyday because I swim at an indoor pool daily. If you pick decent shampoo it won't strip all the oils from your scalp and hair.

When I go on /out/tings I typically do not shampoo or any other cleaning. Aside from a bit more oil than normal, there's not much difference. I'd imagine if you stayed out long enough you get buildup of dead skin and oil on your scalp though.

I have some neat teatree shampoo which is just the most basic shampoo you can imagine, mixed with teatree oil.
Good for keeping all the bugs away.
And to my experience not much influence on the skin bellow. But again, I don't shower daily. My interval is a tad higher

You need to bathe at least every 3 days unless you're doing a lot of dirty or high intensity work. Everyone's hair is different based on texture. Eg straight hair is naturally more oily than curly. People with straight hair can shampoo every day or every other day while people with curly hair should shampoo about once a week or less depending on the length

This actually depends on your diet a fair bit. My oral hygine is super lax, I hadn't been to the dentist for 6 years and forgot to brush my teeth a lot. But I was mostly eating veggies, fruit when in season, and maybe fish or meat once a week. Just had a check up and my teeth are in perfect working order. No fillings needed.

Nature is not perfect, it's whatever works at the time. During the colder periods of the paleolithic, a large portion of Eurasians developed oily hair because it traps heat better. So yes, if you don't mind having oily hair feel free to let nature do it's work. Most of us though do not want oily hair, so we Washington it with chemicals. If you don't want to try your hand at making lye soap, try washing your hair /out/ directly with ashes from the fire. Take a handfull or two, and just later like normal with water. It works well for keeping my hair clean and not oily. Or you could try no-poo, you might not be someone with really oily hair, or maybe your not even Eurasian. Good luck.

Of course, it's made simpler by the fact that I keep it cut short. My wife stopped washing her hair, and from time to time it gets quite oily. This is solved with brushing, application of talcum powder, and a good rinse.

Yeah it does. Which is why people who don't use shampoo use things like Neem, Shakakai, Alma, Aritha, Brahmi powder. There's good alternatives to destroying your hair with sulfate shampoo and then making it kinda ok with conditioner which is just coating it in a layer of silicone.

I hardly ever brush, but I floss after every single meal. I haven't had a cavity in probably 14 years, since I was a teenager. Toothpaste is more about whitening your teeth and making your breath smell minty than actually cleaning anything.

I always drink/swish water after eating and I use toothpicks/floss often, as well as mouth wash. I brush maybe once every few days, as felt/needed, mostly in evenings.

I have ZERO fillings and cavities, and at my regular visits to the dentist he always comments what exemplary teeth I have and to keep doing what I'm doing. Lol.

I'm married but before always did OK with women. Exes never said anything about bad breath.

after about a week of oilyness, it goes down to a baseline. The tradeoff is you have to shower very regularly to wash out the crap and dead skin, otherwise your hair will get actually dirty. Also wash your fucking pillowcases at least every week

Not necessarily, I have the same problem as that guy, and my hair started getting greasy in my teens before I even starting washing it every day (that's actually why I increased my washing frequency in the first place). Since then, I've spent a few summers not washing as regularly since I wasn't in the middle of civilization, but even then it never stopped becoming greasy within a day.

Not true, I've spent very long periods of time in the wilderness not washing, and although you don't smell your body odor much when you're outside, as soon as you enter an enclosed place like a car or a cabin you immediately realize that you smell like shit. People didn't wash themselves before because being dirty isn't that deadly and when everybody spends every hour of their life dirty, nobodies notices the smell anymore. It's still not a good idea in areas with high population density such as modern cities since it helps diseases spread, and when every one around washes, as soon as you pass by someone who doesn't the smell is noticeable and revolting.

I scrub my head with water but I haven't used shampoo in 6 or 7 years. After the initial oily phase it goes back to normal. The reason your hair gets so greasy is because shampoo strips the oil and your scalp over produces

dont use shampoo, just rinse it. if it gets too greasy use some apple cider vinegar. no shampoo will make your hair regulate its own oil production, it makes curly hair look a lot better.

Who said anything about not washing? The thread was about not using *soap* on skin when washing as that was the element that fucks with the natural balance. Of course, have your showers/baths, but water's the only solvent you need.

I have noticed this exact thing. Higher end soaps and shampoos leave behind some kind of residue that keeps you feeling smooth whereas cheap bar soap removes every trace of grease. It's a pretty neat feeling though so I prefer that + mid/high end shampoo every two or three days.
