Do more people go /out/ more during colder months? /out/ seems to be slower.

I do tend to go out more in winter. It tends to be more comfortable. I tend to get overly sweaty in hotter months. There tends to be less bears to worry about too.

I go out everyday but nothing exciting really happens in the winter. Right now I saw a note at a trailhead that 2 people with pack rafts went in the water and I’m looking for the rafts. They lived but left a “anybody see a couple of pack rafts call #” note.

I haven't historically but I'm changing that this year. Have a hike planned for next week.

And man I had hoped to climb enough this year to feel ready and equipped for an ice climbing course that's going to be happening, but no bueno.

Yes, I live in the desert, I can go out without worrying about whether I'll die of heatstroke. Deserts in summer are no fun, you can't really explore safely.

I sure as hell plan to. I'm new to out, but I've been going in the warmer months and it's fucking awful. I live in Aus, so everything is terrible. I've always preferred the rain and cold, and find I do better in it, plus I hate basically cooking in the humidity and feeling like shit when /out/. Few times I've gone camping in the cooler times has been a lot comfier.

In Southern California it is by far my preferred time of the year to go /out/ primitive camping. So many people here, to get full isolation gotta go when people are more reluctant (anything below 60 deg F and SoCal folks get genuinely cold).

Even then, somehow I run into the occasional Mexicans who somehow are loud enough to be heard from the next valley, unseen.

Also the winter is super dry, not a single cloud for weeks, and becuase that, the sun is super annoying.
Also, the fishing slows down a lot.
So, i dont go out during the winter, i hate the winter and not because of the cold, but because of the super annoying sun
