Maybe chest high with light off shore winds on a weekend. Beautiful, for Texas surf. Winter always brings the best swell.

Any surfer bros out there today?

lol. when i was going to school in galveston a girl there was super stoked because the remnants of a storm surge were going to result into 18" swells and she somehow managed to break her ankle riding them.

Yeah i know we catch hell. I surf longboard and live on the island so its cool, maybe twice a week it's rideable on average. About 2 or 3 days a month it gets really fun. We do get decent size surf it is just rare that it is long period and wind is right. Basically hurricanes help a lot and winter is better.
Waiting for the tide to fill in this afternoon to surf Galvatraz, surf side was slow and about shoulder high but not walling up due to the low tide this morning. It was 8' at 8 sec last night, dropping to 3' at 7 sec after noon.

Still more fun then not getting wet on a weekend.

Well, went back out at 1 on the incoming tide, absolutely shacked. Shoulder+ and barreling at East 61st. One of the top 10 days this year. Caught at least 40 great ones in 2.5 hours. Wish i had a fish or other short board because it was dumping. Either way, super fun.

I used to surf Galveston growing up. I was boi and lived in Dickinson during hs.

I was in the surf shop once when some tourist asked where the best surf around there was. The guy behind the counter said "1500 miles west".

I was a bit landlocked in Austin for years. Closer to Corpus than my home breaks so I had a board hanging in my dorms and later apts. Longboard skateboard and maybe bowls can get you by but its not even close.

They built this surf park in Austin NLand, it fucking blows. 90 bucks an hour and you are with 4 other people taking turns so its 8 or 9 waves.

I live in Paris but my folks still live somewhere on the atlantic coast so I do get some surf when i go back home. Going to Martinique in a month so I can surf in hot water.
Pic is christmas session from a few years back. Water is 11°C
