Anyone here into mountain biking?

I love wooshing through the forest and catching air off of water bars and stuff. Hiking is cool because you can go anywhere, but it's so much slower/ less engaging.

Been riding for year anon. Just moved to Vancouver Island this fall to ride more. It can be a money pit, but nothing makes me feel more childlike and stoked than a good ride. Keep at it; it only gets more fun.

Just started riding about 2 months ago with my friends (who have been doing it for over a decade). I'm shit compared to them, but they go slow to not leave me behind and I've been getting better.

The one thing I don't think I'll ever be able to handle though is dealing with huge roots going uphill. Anyone have tips on how to keep your momentum going through them?

I like riding through the woods and sneaking up on joggers with earbuds. Then when I get inches away from my target I go "ON YOUR LEFT!!!". I truly believe I have caused people to shit themselves.

The frame came as a kit, everything else I sourced separately. Also nice going, fat tires are the only way to go for snow or sand.

You might look into pneumatic addons that let you adjust the tire pressure while riding. It uses a bottle of compressed air, you don't even have to get off the bike. I forget the name of it but there's several systems out there now which do this.

It's desirable for a fat tire bike because adjusting the pressure adjusts the grip on different surfaces

I would say you're an asshole but a lot of trail joggers I've come across have been dickheads. Really inconsiderate and stupid to listen to music when doing that.

One time I kept yelling on your left, the guy heard me + kept looking back but didn't fucking move over for me to pass (was too narrow to pass with him in the center, lots of thorn bushes). Ended up having to putt along behind him up this technical climb, that you need to have some momentum to get up. Fell over like a retard because of that guy. Fuck trail runners

I don't see why you think it's a big deal to wear earbuds. Sounds like the guy you encountered would have been the same way without them. I play my music out loud when I'm in more remote areas, but to me it seems more considerate to wear earbuds when I ride trails in or near the city and I encounter more people.

Check Craigslist and Pinkbike, you can get insane value. Friend just got a 2015 Specialized aluminum enduro comp 29er for $1200, compared to my new Camber for $1600. I still love the Camber, if your gonna buy new it's a good entry level bike.
