>>1162137If bear cans are required and fires are restricted it's probably partly because it's a high trafficked area, lots of other hikers/campers, etc. That to me does not make those places "worth going to" anymore. The Eastern High Peaks in the Adirondacks for example, lots of people trying to climb multiple 46 peaks in a few days, or the highest Mtn in the state, etc. The more people, the more trash and food there to potentially attract bears, the more trees/plants getting trampled on (or even cut down) for people's firewood, birch trees getting bark their stripped, outside firewood bringing in invasive species, etc. So many people go there vs the rest of the ADKs, that it's not worth going to, even without the restrictions. Plenty of equally or even more remote/beautiful/serene places to go in the ADKs and world, where there aren't tons of other people around to ruin the experience.
