Water Treatment

No.1167141 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hello /out/.
I'm planning on embarking on my first multi day hike in a few weeks and while everything else is simple enough to organise, I'm not sure what I will do about water.
There will (probably) be running creeks, and definitely bore water at camps, but I don't know what method I should use to clean the water.
I asked my father recently and he suggested that as long as the water is running, it's good to drink, but I'm not so optimistic.
I've done some googling, and basically the 3 major options are boiling, purification pills, and filters.

It will be very hot and humid where I'm hiking, so will need a decent amount of water. I think I'll bring 10L reserve (between two people), but I'd like to decide on a method of cleaning water along the trail so I don't shit myself to death.

What do you guys do, personally?
