>>1167848>>1171368it's been a good +10 years since I've worn a mid height boot but in the last season or so I've come to realise I could do with one. After an afternoon online seeing what was what the boot seemed to do all I wanted was the MOAB2. Lightweight, supportive, as well as being waterproof(ish) with the Gore-Tex and supposedly slippers comfy out of the box.
last week I headed to my local Millets who do ''Price Match +10% discount vs your best found price'' so walked out with a pair for £67.50 down from £125 (the manager who had to do the price match looked ready to cry lol)
I had them out for the first time a few days ago, and it was scary to see how much that had been said about them was true. The soles seem to give a strange omnidirectional grip (not just the usual linear traction the tread on boots tend to have) as no matter which way you shift weight it grips and you can feel it bite in. Coupled with a pair of mid weight hiking socks my feet were toastie warm (just right actually not hot and not cold) even though it was down to - 4°C. They're as comfy as a well worn pair of trainers straight away, I crossed several small hillside runoffs to the lake and my feet remained dry.
I'm particularity impressed with the MOAB2s so far. Hopefully I'll be able to get out again next elsewhere and see how they do
