Coldest in a few years. We generally accumulate a lot of snow, while temps stay moderately higher than windswept areas like ND. Though record lows are regularly recorded in places like Ely and Embarrass, so it kinda depends on where to you're moving.

It's a city.

Go north to Superior National Forest.
Duluth area has a lot of /out/ opportunities, it's about 2 hours North for Mlps.

I take cold showers actually, I've found it works better than caffeine to wake me up, and I don't get headaches anymore. Though I attribute that to dropping caffine not taking cold showers.

I also used to swim during the winter, I lived on a river, and would jump in and scrub clean before going into the sauna. It was awesome to go from shivering uncontrollably, and painfully numb extremities to being so warm you have to step out.

Only -4F lowest here so far a couple nights ago. The worst we ever had was -42F during the day. It was so cold that breathing normally hurt quite a bit and the river was frozen solid to the very bottom. Before 1997, everything was brutal cold as all fuck. This winter is the coldest winter since then. Now in some years, flowers bloomed in January and nothing hibernated, like last winter.

Hiking isn't bad in the cold, not a big deal. You'll be peeling layers in no time. Just bring something to cover your ears, that's essential

I have a natural gas furnace like most houses in the US. Sometimes the power goes out so the furnace stops, but it takes about 8 hours for my house to go from 60F to freezing in that kind of weather. Thick walls and lots of insulation.

I've always hated the cold(live in a northern state) and feel like a pussy 6 months of the year but high temps during the summer never bother me like most people. Only run my a/c if the humidity is too high. Could there be a biological reason I'm like this or just a pussy like stated before? Also from what I've been told my grandfather was the same way hating the cold but loving hot weather.

Not everyone feels comfortable at the same temperature, what the fuck. It's just that you are more familiar with your irrational system. After using metric for a while you will know "comfortable zones", you don't even need decimals.

Is that a bike pump pressure potato gun? WTF happened to butane and a lantern sparker? I used to have a couple that I built. Hairspray was a cheap fuel but after a while it gummed up the threads on the screw on breech cap. Sometimes it would glue it on and need a wrench to get it off. Butane was the best, once I started using that I didn't use anything else.

It was pretty awesome launching 2" loads of corn/pebbles at random shit. Frozen potatoes that had previouisly been cut to size could shoot through 1/2 inch plywood. Good times.

Neck gaitor. It's honestly very easy to overheat when out in the extreme cold since airflow is cut off for the most part. What seems warm at first becomes sweltering when you start heating up. Yet still some extremities get a bit numb which makes the entire experience very strange.
This is why cotton is lethal. You sweat, cotton holds the sweat, the cool air cools the now wet shirt and you go from overheating to freezing and its basically impossible to strip it off.

Extreme cold warning in effect here in Ontario, Canada, a little NE of lake Huron. Its been between -30° and -40°C for the last two weeks. Its -35 right now and dropping through the night. Ive been having to take a hair dryer to both doors every time I wanna get /out/.
